Ballhausen is a district of the municipality Syrgenstein in the district of Dillingen an der Donau in Bavaria .

The church village lies in the open ground southwest of Altenberg and merges almost seamlessly into it.

history

In the district of Ballhausen scattered finds date from the Mesolithic period .

Ballhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1327 as "Ballhusen". The place was probably created from Staufen . The main part of the village belonged to the Altenberg rule . With the division of the Duchy of Bavaria in 1505, the place came to the then founded Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg .

When the administration in the Kingdom of Bavaria was reorganized at the beginning of the 19th century, Ballhausen came to the Lauingen district court , and later to the Dillingen district .

On July 1, 1970, the former communities of Ballhausen and Altenberg merged to form the new community of Altenberg.

Ballhausen initially belonged to the parish of Staufen and came to the parish of Altenberg in 1966.
