Bally Prell (actually Agnes Pauline Prell; born September 14, 1922 in Munich ; † March 20, 1982 ibid) was a German speaker and folk singer .

Life

Prell was born as the daughter of the Munich composer and folk singer Ludwig Prell at Leopoldstrasse 77 in Schwabing , where she lived throughout her life. As a five-year-old she performed in Munich's Odeons Hall and delighted the audience with her voice. Her voice pitch was a soft tenor voice , with which she was also able to sing classical arias.

On October 31, 1953, she appeared for the first time in Munich's Platzl with her song Die Schönheitskönigin von Schneizlreuth , caricaturing the emerging beauty craze with her rustic appearance. Her program also included the Isar fairy tale composed by her father . She remained connected to the Platzl until the end of her life. In 1956 and 1957 she was also seen in films, such as in Marriage forbidden as a carnival singer and in Zwei Bayern in the harem as Leila, Rose der Nacht (1957). She died in 1982 as a result of goiter surgery. Bally Prell is buried in the North Cemetery in Munich (grave no. 2-3-5).

Honors

In the Munich City Museum , her well-known stage costume, consisting of a flowery frilly dress, the parasol, the half-gloves, the serrated crown and the white-blue sash with the imprint "Miss Schneizlreuth" are kept in the original in her memory.

A fountain designed by Wolfgang Sand in 1992 was set up in front of the house on Leopoldstrasse.

On June 14, 2007, the Munich city council decided to name a street after her in a new building area in the Lochhausen district .
