Balthasar von Ahlefeldt

Balthasar von Ahlefeldt (born September 29, 1559 - † March 8, 1626 in Kiel ) was royal councilor and magistrate of Flensburg and Rendsburg , lord of Kollmar , Drage and Heiligenstedten .

Life

Balthasar von Ahlefeldt was born on September 29, 1559. After serving as court squire to King Frederick II of Denmark , he undertook a major journey through Italy, Germany and France. In 1583 he returned to Germany and built the new Heiligenstedten Castle on his father's estate in Heiligenstedten . On October 13, 1583, he married Margarethe von Rantzau, the younger daughter of the royal governor Heinrich Rantzau and his wife Christine . From this marriage the only daughter Dorothea von Ahlefeldt emerged. In 1589 he was councilor of Duke Johann Adolph von Gottorp and in 1593 royal councilor and bailiff of Flensburg, Rendsburg and Steinburg . He owned the goods Kollmar, Drage and Heiligenstedten. He died on March 8, 1626 in Kiel and was buried in the St. Laurentius Church in Itzehoe .
