Bamboo is a country town in northern Jamaica . The city is located in County Middlesex in the Parish Saint Ann . According to the official census, Bamboo had 3,732 inhabitants in 1991. Projections in 2013 showed a population of 4,264 people.
geography
Bamboo is located on the B11 , between the two towns of Claremont and Brown's Town , at an average of 640 meters above sea level. The north Atlantic coast is about 12 kilometers from the village. The nearest town is Philadelphia at a distance of five miles west of town. The next larger city is Ocho Rios at a distance of about 25 kilometers.
Infrastructure
The water supply is a problem in Bamboo. Most of the buildings in the village had no water connection in December 2012.

Bamboo is home to the Hill Top Juvenile Correctional Center , a penal institution operated by the Department of Correctional Services, Jamaica . There is also a police station.

There are two schools in the city. The Bamboo Primary and Junior High and a Primary School.
