Amphoe Bang Saphan ( Thai : อำเภอ บางสะพาน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the southern part of the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan . Prachuap Khiri Khan is the southernmost province of the central region of Thailand .
geography
Neighboring counties and areas: Amphoe Thap Sakae is north, Amphoe Bang Saphan Noi is south of Bang Saphan County. To the west is the Tanintharyi Division of Myanmar and to the east is the Gulf of Thailand .
The Namtok Huai Yang National Park ( Huai Yang Waterfall - Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก ห้วย ยาง ) is located here in Bang Saphan as well as in the Thap Sakae district.
history
Bang Saphan was already a city in the Kingdom of Ayutthaya . In the Thonburi period it was called Mueang Kamnoed Nopphakhun. In the Rattanakosin period, King Nang elevated Klao (Rama III) to a "4th class city" under the Kalahom (Defense) Ministry. King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) downgraded her to the Mueang Kamnoed Nopphakhun District. In 1915, King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) renamed the district by cutting off Mueang . A little later the king named her "Bang Saphan".
Attractions
- Namtok Huai Yang National Park ( Huai Yang Waterfall , Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก ห้วย ยาง ) - the 161 km² park was opened on December 8, 1991 as the 70th national park in Thailand . Most of the mountains are 200 to 800 meters high, the Yot Khao Luang is the highest at 1251 meters, it is located on the border between Thailand and Myanmar. Numerous waterfalls can be seen in the park, such as the eponymous Huai-Yang- ( น้ำตก ห้วย ยาง ), the Kha-Orn- ( น้ำตก ขาอ่อน ) or the Bua-Sawan waterfall ( บัวสวรรค์ ).

There are three municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Kamnoet Nopphakhun (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กำเนิด นพคุณ ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Kamnoet Nopphakhun.
- Ban Krut (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน กรูด ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Thong Chai.
- Ron Thong (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ร่อนทอง ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Ron Thong.
In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administration Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)
