Banja (also: Banya; Bulgarian : Баня) is a town with 3309 inhabitants (December 31, 2016) in the municipality of Karlovo in the Plovdiv Oblast in central Bulgaria . The city is located 10 km south of Karlovo and 47 km north of Plovdiv .
The highway A1 runs south at 40 km.
The Strjama , a 110.1 km long river that runs through the western Rose Valley and flows 15 km east of Plovdiv into the Mariza flows through Banja .
