Banner Batteries is an Austrian family company and, according to its own information, is one of the world's leading battery producers. The company produces and sells starter batteries, industrial batteries and battery accessories. Banner supplies major vehicle manufacturers such as BMW, VW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce, Seat, Aston Martin, Suzuki, Volvo, Kässbohrer and Liebherr and supplies the aftermarket in many sectors, such as cars, boats, forklifts, lifting platforms and emergency power systems.

history

Banner Batteries was founded by Artur Bawart in Rankweil / Vorarlberg in 1937. The company moved to Linz / Kleinmünchen in 1953 and established a new location there in 1959 on Salzburger Straße.

Artur Bawart handed over management and capital shares to his sons Norbert and Roland Bawart in 1965. Banner was one of the first in Europe to produce pre-charged starter batteries (1968), developed manufacturing technologies for welded polypropylene batteries (1976) and introduced maintenance-free batteries on a lead-calcium-tin basis (1980). Banner was ISO 9001 certified in 1994 .

In 1996 the third generation, Andreas and Thomas Bawart, took over the management. In 2007, 7 million euros were invested in a logistics center and AGM production facility in Linz .

In the 2016/17 financial year (April 1st – March 31st) the Banner Group achieved sales of EUR 272 million. In total, it sold around 4.5 million starter batteries during the period, around 30% of which were OEM products to vehicle manufacturers (including VW , BMW , Mitsubishi , MAN , Mercedes , Kässbohrer , Wacker Neuson and Rosenbauer ).

In 1981 the company received the state award and has been allowed to use the federal coat of arms in business transactions ever since .

Locations

The company's headquarters are in Leonding. Banner Batteries is represented in 13 countries (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark, Great Britain, Poland, Slovakia, Russia, Romania and Bulgaria) with 25 own branches. In all other export markets (in the rest of Europe and many countries in Africa and Asia), Banner sells its products through direct importers.
