Banu Cennetoğlu

Banu Cennetoğlu (* 1970 in Ankara ) is a Turkish concept and installation artist .

life and work

Banu Cennetoğlu studied photography in Paris after completing a Bachelor of Psychology in Istanbul . From 1996 she lived in New York until she was accepted into the Artist in Residence program at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam in 2002. Cennetoğlu runs the non-profit project space BAS in the city center of Istanbul, which is dedicated to collecting, archiving, exhibiting and publishing limited edition artist books.

Cennetoğlu's works were shown at documenta 14 (2017), the 10th Gwangju Biennale (2014), Manifesta 8 in Murcia (2010), the 10th Istanbul Biennale and the first Athens Biennale (both 2007) as well as the 3rd and 5th . Berlin Biennale (2004, 2008) are shown. A large solo show was organized for them in 2011 in the Kunsthalle Basel and in 2019 in the K 21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen ; she represented Turkey together with Ahmet Ögüt at the 53rd Venice Biennale (2009).
