BarCraft

BarCraft is a trunk word for public viewing of StarCraft in bars . The term “BarCraft” also applies to other e-sports titles than StarCraft. This phenomenon first appeared in the United States in the spring of 2011 with the start of the North American Star League . It is attributed to the Team Liquid user “primadog”, the Reddit user “o_Oskar” and the “Chao Bistro and Bar” in Seattle .

Emergence

In May 2011 the user o_Oskar opened a new topic on Reddit that people could come to the Chao in Seattle on the 11th of the month to watch the North American Star League games, have a few beers and be with other StarCraft fans to enjoy.

Since then, the BarCraft phenomenon has grown with BarCrafts in the United States , Canada and many more around the world. The first BarCrafts in Europe took place in London and Stockholm at the end of August 2011. For DreamHack Winter 2011 on 25./26. November BarCrafts were held in many major cities in Europe. There are also sponsors from the game industry at these events , so that, for example, competitions can be held during breaks.

Germany

In August 2011 the first private BarCrafts were launched in Germany via internet forums , then the first official ones in Berlin and Aachen on October 9, 2011. A little later, others in Hamburg on October 20, 2011, in Leipzig on October 26 and in Munich on November 25, 2011.

The second official BarCraft, which was held in Munich, is the largest so far in Germany with around 300 visitors. For the World Championship StarCraft II Europe Finals on September 16, 2012, BarCrafts took place in 8 German cities at the same time.

BarCraft Connect

The umbrella organization BCON was founded in August 2012 to provide a point of contact for all BarCraft organizers worldwide. BCON currently only works in Germany, Italy, France, Austria and Switzerland. Information and promotional material is developed to promote BarCrafts to a wider audience, potential hosts and sponsors, as well as to create a better flow of information between BarCrafts and e-sports event organizers so that the schedules of the events are known earlier and the BarCraft organizers plan better on the basis of this can.

BCON Clash # 1

The first final of the BCON Clash will take place on July 13th. A tournament for all "non-professional players" from all Barcraft who are united under the umbrella organization Barcraft-Connect. The first BCON Clash has a prize pool of € 400 thanks to a German sponsor and players from Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Romania and Switzerland meet.

BCON Clash # 2

On September 29, 2013, the BCON Clash # 2 was announced. Players of all skill levels can now take part in this community tournament. The only condition is that you register for a Barcraft or other e-sports community event that has registered with Barcraft Connect. HasuObs won the title .
