Barak Sopé

Barak Tame Sopé (* 1951 ) is a Vanuatu politician and former Prime Minister of Vanuatu .

Career

In 1998 Sopé was Minister for Trade, Industry, Tourism and Economic Development.

On November 25, 1999, following the resignation of Donald Kalpokas, he was elected Prime Minister by Parliament with 28 to 24 votes. On April 13, 2001, like some of his predecessors, he was overthrown by a vote of no confidence and replaced by former President Edward Natapei .

On July 29, 2004, Prime Minister Serge Vohor appointed him Foreign Minister. However, he only held this office until November 15, 2004.
