Maxime Carlot Korman

Maxime Carlot Korman (born April 26, 1941 ) is a politician and former Prime Minister of Vanuatu .

On December 16, 1991, Carlot Korman succeeded Donald Kalpokas . Between 1993 and 1995 he then took over the office of Foreign Minister in his cabinet. On December 21, 1995 he was replaced by Serge Vohor as Prime Minister.

However, Vohor only stayed in office for three months. After he announced his resignation on February 8, 1996, the Legislative Assembly re-elected Carlot Korman as Prime Minister on February 23, 1996. On September 30, 1996, Serge Vohor followed him for the second time as Prime Minister, after Parliament had pronounced suspicion on him by 27 votes to 22.

He had been a member of the Vohor government as Deputy Prime Minister since July 29, 2004. When Vohor formed a government of national unity on August 18, 2004, Carlot Korman was replaced by Ham Lini as deputy prime minister.

The term of office of President Kalkot Mataskelekele ended on August 16, 2009. Thereafter, Maxime Carlot Korman, who had meanwhile been elected President of Parliament, took over the presidential duties for the time being.

The Korman Stadium , Vanuatu's National Stadium , in Port Vila is named after Korman .
