Barbara Richter-Rumstig

Barbara Richter-Rumstig (née Richter ; * 1940 ) is a German guitarist and music teacher .

Life

Richter studied guitar with Henze's student Dieter Rumstig , whom she later married. She played with him in a duo from 1974. They traveled to France, West Germany, Eastern Europe and Mexico. Many contemporary composers dedicated pieces such as Reiner Bredemeyer , Paul-Heinz Dittrich and Georg Katzer to them . Numerous CD recordings were made. Richter worked until 1988 as a guitar lecturer at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin . Guitarist Thomas Blumenthal is one of her students . In addition, she and her husband organized the International Guitar Days in the Theater im Palast der Republik (TiP) until 1990 . She then worked at the Distel cabaret theater in Berlin. In 1991 she founded the BAJA Art Institute, of which she is the artistic director. This organizes an international guitar festival every year. She interviewed several public figures in so-called celebrity portraits, including the Brandenburg Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck (2010).
