Barbara Schaefer (born March 11, 1961 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) is a German journalist and author .

Life and accomplishments

Professional development

Schaefer studied theater studies , modern German literature and comparative literature from 1983 to 1989 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and at the Discipline delle Arti, della Musica e dello Spettacolo ( DAMS ) in Bologna . From 1986 she wrote theater reviews for the Münchner Stadtzeitung . From 1989 to 1991 she was editor-in-chief of the culture magazine Applaus , and from 1992 to 1996 she was the culture editor of the magazine Berge . Schaefer has been working as a freelance journalist and author since 1997 and publishes travel reports in national newspapers and magazines, including the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung , the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the Tagesspiegel , in GEO and Brigitte . She has written travel guides and travel books about Lake Garda , Capri , Rome , Istanbul , New York , Berlin , Ticino , Lapland and southern Italy .

Barbara Schaefer has lived in Berlin since 1997.
