Barbara from Ow-Freytag

Barbara von Ow-Freytag (born April 19, 1957 in Munich ) is a German journalist , political scientist and expert on civil society in Russia .

Life

Ow-Freytag was born on April 19, 1957 in Munich as the daughter of Meinrad Franz von Ow-Wachendorf and Beata von Zwehl. She is married to the German diplomat Arndt Freiherr Freytag von Loringhoven .

career

From 2008 to 2013 she was an advisor to the CDU member of the Bundestag Andreas Schockenhoff , the federal government's coordinator for German-Russian inter-society cooperation . She is currently an international relations and advocacy advisor at the Prague Civil Society Center . She was also the director of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum secretariat . In 2014 she headed the working group for collaboration with the Civil Society Forum of the Eastern Partnership . She has been based in Brussels since May 2017.

She works at the Center for European Studies, named after Wilfried Martens , of the party-affiliated foundation of the European People's Party (EPP) in Brussels, whose political director is Roland Freudenstein .
