The Barbarakapelle on the Bielerhöhe is a chapel of the illwerke vkw AG in the municipality of Gaschurn in the local area of Partenen on the Bielerhöhe in the Silvretta in Vorarlberg .
history
The chapel of St. Barbara of Nicomedia , the patroness of the miners, was built by the Vorarlberger Illwerke between 1965 and 1967 according to the plans of the architect Hubert Fragner from Telfs under the building director August Burtscher . The chapel was consecrated with the auxiliary bishop Bruno Wechner on September 23, 1967.

In 1967 the chapel was generally used for the deceased workers in the power plant construction. Bells like marble reliefs bear the slogan Remember the victims who demanded a great work . In 2008 a memorial plaque was placed on a side wall expressly commemorating the deceased forced laborers and prisoners of war of the Second World War .
architecture
The chapel is a rectangular building under a wooden shingle-roofed gable roof. The tower with a gable roof moves slightly out of the facade line and is situated above the altar area. The rectangular portal has a sign with a monopitch roof . The initially clear-glazed rectangular windows were later given lead-glazed colored sculptures.
Furnishing
On the altar wall is a marble relief with a cross by the sculptor Herbert Albrecht from Wolfurt.
The bell was cast by the Grassmayr bell foundry in Innsbruck.
