Herbert Albrecht (born February 7, 1927 in Au in the Bregenzerwald ) is an Austrian sculptor . Today he lives and works in the Vorarlberg community of Wolfurt .

Life

From 1941 Albrecht attended Hans Pontiller's sculpting class at the Innsbruck School of Applied Arts, but had to interrupt his training due to the war and was only able to complete it in 1946. From 1949 he studied sculpture with Franz Santifaller and Herbert Boeckl and from 1951 to 1955 with Fritz Wotruba at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna .

From 1993 to 1997 Albrecht was visiting professor at the Graz University of Technology .

Works (selection)

The focus of Albrecht's work is the human body, and the head in particular is always a central theme. His sculptures are mainly made of stone or metal.
