Håkan Broström

Håkan Broström (* 1955 ) is a Swedish jazz - saxophonist and flutist of modern jazz .

Broström began his musical career in blues bands and the reggae formation Rotpuls in 1982, then switched to jazz and has been a member of the Stockholm contemporary jazz scene and the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Fredrik Norén since the 1970s . Together with Tomas Franck he founded the band Equinox (Swedish "Jazz Group of the Year" 1984) and played in the Big Band of Bob Brookmeyer ( Dreams ) in 1988 . In the mid-1990s he was a member of the band of pianist Jan Wallgren ( Raga, Bebop and Anything ) together with Nils Landgren and Lennart Åberg . Since the early 1990s, Boström has recorded three albums under his own name for the Swedish label Dragon Records , on which musicians such as Bobo Stenson , Tim Hagans , Anders Kjellberg , Marc Copland and Jeff Hirshfield participated. In 2008 he played in a quartet with Joey Calderazzo , Martin Sjöstedt and Daniel Fredriksson .
