The Barbenan is a river in France that runs in the Allier department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises in the Monts de la Madeleine , near the hamlet of Les Hormières , in the municipality of Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs , generally drains in a northerly direction and flows into the Besbre after 27 kilometers in the municipality of Le Breuil as a right tributary .
