Architecture and history

The manor house was part of the manor that had existed since the 14th century. It was owned by the von Barby family . Today's two-storey, plastered building was built after 1660. The facade has seven axes. On the courtyard side there is a sandstone portal from 1675. In a triangular gable is the Barby coat of arms, entwined with foliage. Above the gate there is an alliance coat of arms from 1664, which goes back to the marriage of Levin the Elder von Barby and Anna Catharina von Barby, née von Wulffen. The building is covered by a mansard roof .

On the first floor of the house there is a delicate stucco ceiling from the Rococo . A wooden coffered ceiling in the early Baroque style has been preserved on the upper floor.

After the Second World War , the Barby family was evicted. The entrepreneur Robert Dahl , founder of the Karls Erlebnis-Dorf chain and grandson of the last owner before the eviction, bought the property back in 2014. The house used for residential purposes was in need of renovation at this time. An extensive repair of the buildings followed.

A café, the so-called Barbycafé, an estate kitchen and a shop with products from the Karls company were built. Outside catering and a playground were set up. The facilities opened on April 2, 2018. The estate includes a 80 hectares large walnut -Plantage in city environment.

The manor is listed in the local monument register under registration number 107 05041 as a monument .
