The Barg Hauser Lake is a quarry pond in the area of the city of Wilhelmshaven in Lower Saxony . The lake is part of the Barghauser See nature reserve and is also used for natural recreation.
location
The Barghauser See is located southwest of the village of Fedderwarden , a rural district of Wilhelmshaven. In the lake there is an artificially built island and a raft that birds use as a breeding and resting place. The lake has neither inflows nor outflows.
history
The Barghauser See is named after the former Barghausen farm. It was created by extracting sand for the construction of today's L 810, which runs as Hooksieler Landstrasse from the federal highway 29 to Hooksiel . The original plan was to keep the farm as an island in the lake, but this plan could not be implemented due to technical problems. The recultivation of the lake was completed in 1983.
