Biological Protection Association Hunte Weser-Ems

The Biological Protection Association Hunte Weser-Ems (BSH) eV is a nature conservation association whose headquarters are in the Wardenburg community in the Oldenburg district ( Lower Saxony ). The organization, which is recognized nationwide in accordance with Section 29 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act, has 4,500 members and 74 member associations. The association is involved in all plan approval procedures in the state. The BSH owns 250 hectares of protected areas between the North Sea and the Dümmer .

history

The association was founded in 1976 by biologists from the University of Osnabrück, Vechta Department . The Lower Saxony Nature Conservation Association (NVN) grew out of it in 1983 and has an office community with it. On the initiative of the NVN, the Federal Umbrella Association for Nature Conservation Forum Germany eV (NaFor) was set up in 2001.

tasks

The association promotes nature conservation in the broadest sense, ie biotope , species and environmental protection, landscape management and applied biosciences, primarily between the North Sea and the Wiehen Mountains .

The Union

  • lays biotopes, e.g. B. orchards , forests, ponds and high moors , and cares for them.
  • supports sheep farms;
  • installs, controls and tends to nesting aids for birds and bats;
  • looks after and extends nature discovery trails;
  • designs near-natural gardens and advises third parties on their construction;
  • plans organic markets, environmental days, specialist conferences, lectures and excursions and conducts them;
  • looks after a group of children.

It cooperates with environmental and nature conservation projects in the region, with national park houses , environmental education centers, nature conservation stations and the Hosüne Ecological Academy in Huntlosen , the organic farm Bakenhus near Großenkneten and maintains regular contacts with neighboring universities and communities. This includes, in particular, the support of activities in the fields of nature conservation, biology and ecology at the University of Vechta.
