Sager Meere, Kleiner Sand and Heumoor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon community of Großenkneten in the Oldenburg district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 252 is 201  hectares in size. It is located north of the “ Ahlhorner Fischteiche ” nature reserve in the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park . The area has been a nature reserve since January 25, 2007. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Oldenburg. The area has been looked after by the Mellumrat since 1951 .

In the nature reserve, the former nature reserves "Sager Meer" and "Kleiner Sand bei Bissel" have merged. The former nature reserve "Sager Meer", which forms roughly the middle part of the current nature reserve, had the registration number NSG WE 072. It was 76 hectares in size and had been under nature protection since October 1939. The former nature reserve "Kleiner Sand bei Bissel" was located in the south of the current nature reserve and bordered directly on the nature reserve "Sager Meer". The 19 hectare area had the registration number NSG WE 152 and existed since September 1984. The nature reserve is completely part of the FFH area “Sager Meer, Ahlhorner Fischteiche; Lethetal I ".

In the protected area, there are Heiden and sand lean turf in the field of small Sands, which is the residue of a formerly extended Wehsandgebietes, by a sinkhole resulting Geest lakes Sager seas and the renaturation capable bog surfaces in Heumoor with Moorwald - and grassland areas. The area drains via the sea channel to the Lethe , a tributary of the Hunte .

In the area of ​​the Kleiner Sands there are gorse sand heaths with hairy gorse , English gorse and arnica . The European Strandling occurs in the Great Sager Sea . The rush edge also settles in the area of ​​the Sager Sea . Occurrences of the knotweed pondweed can be found in the sea ​​channel .

The nature reserve is the habitat of a species-rich fauna. Around 60 different bird species breed in the area, including the little owl , quail , snipe , curlew , woodlark and whinchat . The Sager seas are visiting birds is of particular importance, including various ducks as bride , spoon , heron , haddock and pintail . The hay bog is hunting ground for the Montagu's Harrier .

Amphibians and reptiles are by common toad , common frog , water frog , moor frog , adder , grass snake , Moor lizard and slow worm represented. At least 14 species of grasshopper are native to the nature reserve, five of which are Red List species. Various dragonflies can also be found here, including the small blue arrow , common darter , blue feather dragonfly , early and late Adonis dragonfly , banded demoiselle and blue-green damsel that live on the sea channel. The blue feathered dragonfly, late adonis dragonfly and large demoiselle are native to the Sagter Meeren.
