The Bäken der Endeler and Holzhauser Heide are a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony communities of Visbek in the district of Vechta , Emstek in the district of Cloppenburg and the city of Wildeshausen and the community of Großenkneten in the district of Oldenburg .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 189 is 500  hectares . Of this, 345 hectares are accounted for in the Vechta district, 125 hectares in the Oldenburg district and 30 hectares in the Cloppenburg district. The nature reserve is almost congruent with the FFH area of the same name . The area has been a nature reserve since June 4th, 1988. Responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the districts of Cloppenburg, Oldenburg and Vechta.

Several lowland brooks, including their moist lowlands on the Weser-Ems watershed , are under protection . Specifically, these are the south of Dötlingen in the Hunte opens Aue above the road bridge of the federal highway 213 , the Varnhorner Wasserzug that Twillbäke somewhat below the Visbeker peasantry Wöstendöllen with the lower reaches of its north flowing from Visbek Visbeker break Bach , the mouth of the Landwehrbäke in the floodplain and the Meyerhöfener Wasserzug .

Parts of the nature reserve are used for agriculture and forestry. Agricultural use is largely limited to the use of the grassland in the protected area. In order to prevent the entry of nutrients into the nature reserve and thus a deterioration in the water quality of the Bäken, the spreading of liquid manure on protection zones outside the nature reserve is prohibited from the beginning of November to the beginning of March.
