The Visbeker Bruchbach (also called Visbeker Bäke or Bruchbäke ) is an approximately 6 km long loess-clay-shaped lowland stream in the municipality of Visbek in the Lower Saxony district of Vechta .

Geography and appearance

The Visbeker Bruchbach rises about eight kilometers southwest of Visbeker village, in the area of the peasantry Erlte , directly on the Weser-Ems-watershed , in a puddle in the hallway dog Schlatt , meters two hundred north of the same name, backfilled today Schlatts . The brook flows first in a northwesterly direction, then changes its course to the northeast, and takes in the hallway of Diek one coming from the north from the village Erlte watercourse in order to then with his second, from the southern part of the settlement at the racecourse next spring creek to unite. On a section in the southern center of Visbeck , between Schneiderkruger and Astruper Straße , at the level of the Lourdes Grotto , the brook is also called Bruchbäke . With its water it feeds the village pond located in the center of Visbeck in the Pastors Wisk Park . After passing the village of Visbek west of the "Pfarrberg", the Visbeker Bruchbach continues to flow in a northerly direction to the confluence with the Twillbäke .

Visbeker Bruchbach next to the Way of the Cross

The Visbeker Bruchbach flows in the middle area - between the Visbeker town center and the nature reserve - through a partially quarry forest-covered glacial valley : there the Visbeker Kreuzweg runs parallel to the left of the Bäke . In addition to this, the 10,000 m² "Peter Pan Garden" was laid out on both sides of the Bruchbach on a private initiative. The 1.2 kilometer long lower course before the confluence with the Twillbäke belongs to the nature reserve Bäken der Endeler and Holzhauser Heide . In this area, the Visbeker Bruchbach meanders through semi-natural alluvial forests .

The Visbeker Bruchbach is named for the place Visbek, which was first mentioned in medieval documents as fiscbechi (d. I. Fischbach). The watercourse between the "Pfarrberg" and the cemetery and specialist clinic grounds is viewed as a Fischbach.
