The Ahrensdorfer Moor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony town of Friesoythe in the Cloppenburg district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 235 is 321.5  hectares in size. It has been a nature reserve since August 27, 1999. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Cloppenburg.

The nature reserve is located south of the coastal canal near Ahrensdorf . The Ahrensdorfer Moor is a largely preserved part of the Long Moor, in which only little peat was extracted. Industrial peat extraction from the raised bog only took place in the western part of the nature reserve. These areas are being renatured by rewetting .

To the east of the nature reserve is the former Edewechterdamm / Ahrensdorf sewage sludge dump , which was set up in 1970 on the site of a former peat factory and was used from 1972 to May 31, 2005. The operator of the 138 hectare landfill was hanseWasser Bremen. Around 3.2 million cubic meters of sewage sludge from the Seehausen and Farge sewage treatment plants in Bremen and the surrounding communities in Lower Saxony, which was mostly landed by tankers via the coastal canal, was stored at the landfill.

Over the years a valuable, large-scale wetland "second hand" has developed that is of national importance as a bird breeding area. 160 different water birds , waders and songbirds have been identified here. In the former mud puddles, the succession of open water or mud surfaces to a mosaic-like and diverse vegetation (willow-swamp bushes, birch- pioneer forest , marsh- grass-birch- moor forest or various reeds ) can be observed.

The area is drained via ditches to the Lahe downfall that crosses the area.
