The Pirgo sand pit is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Friesoythe in the Cloppenburg district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 286 is 1.6 hectares in size. It is almost identical to the FFH area of the same name . The area has been under nature protection since April 26, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Cloppenburg.
The nature reserve is northeast of Friesoythe. It places an abandoned sand pit full of groundwater with its bank areas under protection. The sand pit is mostly surrounded by trees. Parts of the shore zones are swampy . Frogweed and flooding celery settle in the water .
The nature reserve borders on a company site in the south. State road 831 runs in the southeast .
