The Poggenpohlsmoor is a nature reserve in the Dötlingen district ( Oldenburg district , Lower Saxony ).
description
The Poggenpohlsmoor ( Low German : Poggenpohl = High German: Froschkuhle) is an area of 116.0 hectares east of the Hunte , 2.5 km northwest of Dötlingen. The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 215 is a limestone moor on the former bank of the Hunte. After the river changed its course, it was created in a hollow at the foot of the Geest slope. Its water balance is more or less intact to this day, as sufficient water flows into the moor from the springy areas of the Geest . So far, the species inventory of the moor has been preserved, so that numerous endangered animals - above all the moor frog - as well as several rare plant species live here.
The nature reserve is congruent with FFH area 051 "Poggenpohlsmoor".
history
With the first ordinance of November 6, 1939 and the current ordinance of October 4, 1993, the "Poggenpohlsmoor" area was declared a nature reserve. The district of Oldenburg is responsible as the lower nature conservation authority.
