The Bassumer Friedeholz is a nature reserve in the municipality of Beckeln , Samtgemeinde Harpstedt , in the Lower Saxony district of Oldenburg .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 293 is about 57  hectares . It is almost congruent with the FFH area of the same name . A 14.3 hectare area of ​​the forest has been designated as a natural forest reserve since 1974 . The area has been under protection since July 8, 2017. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Oldenburg.

The nature reserve is located west of Bassum and south of Harpstedt within the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park . It places oak-hornbeam forests as well as beech and oak forests under protection. Coniferous forests can be found in small areas , which are to be converted into deciduous forest communities typical of the location in the medium to long term .

Tree hedges run along the edges of the nature reserve and partly in the area itself . The forest area is traversed by the Purrmühlenbach , a tributary of the Delme , which rises within the nature reserve. Small-scale alder spring forest grows here.

The nature reserve is also used for local recreation . In many cases it borders other forests of the Friedeholz, to the west and east partly also on agricultural areas .
