Bargny is a city in the Rufisque department of the Dakar metropolitan area , located in the central west of Senegal . After the prefecture of the department Rufisque , it is the second largest city with over 50,000 inhabitants.

Geographical location

Bargny is a port city on the south coast of the Cap-Vert Peninsula , the part of the Senegalese Atlantic coast known as the Petite-Côte . The city is the prefecture of the department Rufisque to the east. The capital of Senegal, Dakar, is about 30 kilometers away.

Due to its geographical location, Bargny is one of the cities on the Cap-Vert peninsula; which the west-east traffic between the metropolis Dakar and the rest of the country must pass. This flows on the national road N 1 through the city area. The Dakar – Niger railway runs parallel to this .
