Barnabas Mary Ahern

Barnabas Mary Ahern CP (born February 18, 1915 in Chicago , † January 9, 1995 there ) was an American theologian.

Life

On July 30, 1933, he made his vows in Louisville, Kentucky and was given the name Barnabas. He was ordained a priest on June 7, 1941. He received a Sacrae Theologiae Licentiatus ( A study of the spirit pledge in Ephesians I, 14 ) in 1943 in theology at the Catholic University of America and in 1947 studied the Bible at the École biblique et archéologique française de Jérusalem . In 1958 he received his doctorate from the Pontificio Istituto Biblico The power of his resurrection and fellowship in his sufferings. An exegetical and doctrinal study of Philippians 3: 10-11 . Worked with Myles Bourke on the translation of the New American Bible . In 1962 he was appointed peritus at Vaticanum II (1962–1965) . In 1969 he moved to Rome to join the newly established International Theological Commission . Finally, in 1989, while suffering from Alzheimer's disease, he had to return to the Passionist Hospital in Chicago.
