The Barrage du Chastang ( " dam of Chastang") is a French dam in the Correze in the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine and is in operation since 1,951th The dam was built between 1947 and 1952.
geography
The structure dams the course of the Dordogne including the Luzège between Bort-les-Orgues and Argentat in the central part of the Massif Central . Places in the near are Servières-le-Château and Saint-Martin-la-Méanne .
use
The reservoir is used as a hydropower plant to generate electricity and is designed for an output of approx. 300 MW. The facility is operated by Électricité de France (EDF). It is also used for flood regulation.
