Barry Morrow
Barry Morrow (born June 12, 1948 in Austin , Minnesota ) is an American film producer and screenwriter who won the Oscar for best original screenplay for Rain Man at the 1989 Academy Awards with Ronald Bass .
Life
Morrow studied after school at St. Olaf College , but left it in 1970 without a degree because he was missing a point.
At the beginning of the 1980s he wrote his life story, which was filmed under the title Bill (1981) by Anthony Page with Mickey Rooney in the title role and for which he and screenwriter Corey Blechman received an Emmy for the most outstanding model for a television film .
He had his first major success as a screenwriter with Rain Man (1988) by Barry Levinson , for which he and Ronald Bass received the Oscar for best original screenplay at the 1989 Academy Awards. He and Bass were also nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay (1990), the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay (1989), and the Writers Guild of America Award (WGA Award) for Best Original Screenplay (1989).
He later founded a film production company , Morrow-Heus Productions , together with Richard Heus , and not only wrote other scripts, but also produced films such as Trevor and the Penner (1991) by George Kaczender and Race the Sun - Im Wettlauf mit der Zeit ( 1996) by Charles T. Kanganis .
