Bart Berman

Bart Berman ( Hebrew ברט ברמן ; * December 29, 1938 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch - Israeli pianist . He became known as an interpreter of Franz Schubert and new music .

He studied piano with Jaap Spaanderman at the Amsterdam Conservatory and completed his studies with Theo Bruins and with a master class with Alfred Brendel .

As a soloist he received first prize in the Gaudeamus competition for interpreters of contemporary music , the prize of the Friends of the Concertgebouw and four first prizes for young musicians. He appears in Israel, Europe and North America as a soloist and in various chamber music groups .

Bart Berman studied composition with Bertus van Lier at the Amsterdam Conservatory and with Wouter van den Berg. He has composed various independent works for orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles and piano, but also cadenzas for all piano concertos by Haydn , Mozart and Beethoven and a second piano part for sonatinas by Muzio Clementi and Daniel Steibelt . Most famous are his completions to Schubert's unfinished piano sonatas and to Bach's Art of Fugue .
