Bart Lootsma

Bart Lootsma (born April 17, 1957 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch historian, critic and curator in the fields of architecture, design and the visual arts.

Life

From 1975 to 1984 he studied architecture at the Eindhoven University of Technology . Bart Lootsma is Professor of Architectural Theory at the Leopold-Franzens University Innsbruck and Professor of Architecture, European Urbanity and Globalization at the University of Luxembourg . He worked as research director at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and also led research projects at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Bart Lootsma was visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and at the University of Applied Arts in Viennaand professor for architectural history, theory and criticism at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . He was head of the 3-D design department at the Arnhem Art Academy , Netherlands. Bart Lootsma also held numerous courses in the fields of architecture, design and the visual arts.

In addition to his scientific activities, Lootsma was editor and author of several specialist journals such as Forum, ARCHIS , de Architect and GAM. He also worked as a guest curator for ArchiLab 2004 in Orléans, ' The Naked City ', and was curator of the Schneider Forberg Foundation in Munich.

Bart Lootsma was a member of several state and municipal committees, such as the Design Advisory Board in Arnhem, the Rotterdam Cultural Council and the Fund for Fine Arts, Design and Architecture. Most recently he was named by the Dutch Queen as a crown member of the Dutch Culture Council. Lootsma is also known as an author. In 1998 he published the book “Media and Architecture” together with Dich Rijken. One of his most famous books, " SuperDutch ", describes modern architectural works in the Netherlands. In addition, “ArchiLab 2004 The Naked City” was released in 2004.
