Bartonville is a city in Denton County in the US state of Texas in the United States of America and is part of the Dallas-Fort-Worth metroplex .

geography

The city is located east of US Highway 35 in northeast Texas, is about 100 km north of Oklahoma and has a total area of ​​15.7 km², of which 0.1 km² is water. The distance to Dallas in the southeast is approximately 50 km.

history

Bartonville was first part of the Chinn's Chapel Settlement , founded by Elisha Chinn . Later the settlement area was divided into three independent parishes and from 1878 Bartonville was an independent place, named after T. Bent Barton . The first post office was opened in 1886. In 1890 the town had 25 permanent residents, a general store, a mill and a small cotton processing plant, all owned by the Barton family. In 1896 the population had risen to 100. The city's further growth was slow and in 1933 only 300 people lived here.

Demographic data

According to the 2000 census, 1,093 people lived here in 382 households and 323 families. The population density was 70.0 inhabitants per km². The racial the population is composed of 97.62% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.91% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 0.55% other ethnic groups.
