Bastendorf ( Luxembourgish Baastenduerf ) is a village in the municipality of Tandel in the canton of Vianden in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .

Bastendorf is located in the Blees valley , which flows into the Sauer a few kilometers south of the town . Bastendorf is connected to traffic by the CR 352 and CR 553, both roads lead through the town. Neighboring towns are Brandenburg in the north, Tandel in the northeast and Diekirch and Seltz in the south .
General
Bastendorf was first mentioned in a document in 806. Until December 31, 2005 it was the capital of the municipality of the same name. On January 1, 2006, the two municipalities of Bastendorf and Fuhren merged to form the new municipality of Tandel. With over 500 inhabitants, Bastendorf is the largest village in the municipality.
The parish church in the center of the village is dedicated to St. Gangolf and was built in 1950 according to plans by the architect Nicolas Schmit-Noesen in place of the church that was destroyed in the Second World War .
