Batavia is a village in Clermont County , Ohio , United States , about 30 km east of Cincinnati . Batavia is the seat of the administration of County Clermont. The place has a good 1,600 inhabitants (as of the 2000 census ).
The campus of UC Clermont College , founded in 1972 and part of the University of Cincinnati system, is located in Batavia . The Batavia Transmission Plant , a Ford factory for the manufacture of vehicle transmissions, was opened in Batavia in 1980 . After the plant was transferred to a joint venture with ZF in 1999 , the plant was closed in 2008.
