History and description
The rural property on Heidelberger Landstrasse is in an exposed location, on the edge of the flood zone at the former town hall bridge (today: Modaubrücke ). The largely preserved original structure shows the three-zone structure typical of the Hessian half-timbered house . The property forms an ensemble of particular architectural and urban development importance.
The structure owns
- A high quarry stone wall with a generous gate connects the gable- facing Renaissance half-timbered building , which is adjoined by a barn with a cellar , with the oldest known former blacksmith's shop in Eberstadt from 1653
- a date on the inner framework of the building refers to the year 1591
- Above a massive basement , the upper floor shows in the parapet fields as a half-timbered configuration, the round disc and diamond cut by a St. Andrew's cross
- Equipment such as the plastered Cologne ceiling , a window and most of the doors date from a very early construction period
The property now serves as a residential building .
