The fashion Bayard AG (formerly fashion Wartmann AG, respectively Bayard Wartmann AG) is a Swiss fashion retailer with 76 stores in Switzerland. The company, which is based in Bern , employs around 450 people and generated sales of around 110 million Swiss francs in 2015.

history

The Bayard family opened a general store in Visp in 1912 , which in 1947 became a pure clothing company and subsequently traded as Mode Bayard . From 1989, Fredy Bayard and his wife Silvia opened ten further branches in Valais until 2003. In 2003, Bayard took over the Berner Mode Wartmann AG and merged the companies to form Be + We Bayard Wartmann AG . Further expansion took place through the takeover of locally established textile retailers, such as Mode Ehrbar in Biel in 2005, three Loeb branches under the Mix label in 2006 , Krause Senn AG in 2010 with six branches in the city and region of Zurich and Protexa Online AG, in 2012 Kottmann Mode in Sursee, in 2013 Schaad Mode with 28 branches and Gerry Weber Switzerland AG , after Bayard had already opened a "House of Gerry Weber" in Bern in 2012 . Starting in 2013, Bayard opened additional stores exclusively for individual model labels: "Marc Cain", " Esprit ", "Comma", " s.Oliver ", " Marc O'Polo ", "Soccx" and " Tommy Hilfiger ".

In 2008, Fredy and Silvia Bayard took over the shares in the Loeb Group, making them the sole owners of the "Mode Bayard Group" . In 2017, Fredy and Silvia Bayard transferred their majority shares to the company's senior executives in order to ensure generation management. Silvia Bayard continues to work as CEO in the company.

Mode Wartmann

The company was founded in 1967 under the name Otto Wartmann AG and from 1987 belonged to the Loeb department store . In 2001, the Thun fashion house was taken over, followed by H. Winiker Mode AG in Emmen a year later .

Bayard succeeded in expanding from Valais with the leap to the Swiss Plateau through the merger with Loeb-owned Wartmann AG, which had eight branches at the time. At the end of 2007, the Bayard family also took over the remaining shares in Loeb.

Honorable

The Biel fashion house Ehrbar with four branches was taken over by Bayard in February 2005 and continued under its previous name.

Jecker, Solothurn

The traditional Solothurn house was leased by the Jecker family to Thuner Schaufelberger AG as early as 1968, but continued to operate under the long-established name. In 2014 the business was transferred to Bayard, which now operates it under its own name.

Gschwend

In 1920, Gottfried Pfister founded a specialty shop for merchandise and home textiles in a former horse stable . Thirty years later Werner Geschwend became a partner in Pfister & Co and took over the business in 1955, which he continued under the name of Gschwend Fabrics . His son Peter joined the company in 1968 and the first women's fashion store was opened. A first branch was opened in Langnau in 1974 , and others in Thun , Huttwil , Lyss and Interlaken . In 2009, Gschwend Mode was taken over by the Zurich fashion chain Schaad, which, however, continued to operate the shops under the traditional name. At the beginning of 2013, Gschwend and the other Schaad businesses went to the Bayard-Wartmann Group.

Krause-Senn

In 1959 the sole proprietorship became Krause-Senn AG in Zurich . Later, Krause-Senn took over the fashion house Korner AG in Willisau , the Mode Wildi AG in Reinach and the fashion house Spörri AG in Uster . Bayard took over Krause-Senn in 2010.

Schaad Mode, Rafz

The Schaad women's clothing factory from Rafz in Zurich also sold its clothing directly. After financial turbulence, the company appeared under the name Schaad Mode and expanded to 35 stores. As part of a succession plan, Bayard took over the Schaad business in 2013.
