Bavarian Canoe Association
The Bavarian Canoe Association e. V. (BKV) is the Bavarian Association for Canoeing and is therefore a member of both the Bavarian State Sports Association and the German Canoe Association . He also acts as a representative of the interests of organized canoeing in the Free State of Bavaria.
The founding date of the association is the 16./17. February 1924, when the so called "Faltbootkrieg" in association circles was resolved on the then Association Day of the German Canoe Association in Dresden . At the end of 2017, the association had 12,579 members in 122 clubs.
The association is divided into seven districts and the Bavarian Individual Paddler Association . He runs the "Große Birke" natural camping site on an island in the Staffelsee , which is only available to members of the German Canoe Association.
The association uses the two canoe sports facilities built for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich - the Augsburg Eiskanal , an artificial whitewater course for canoe slalom , and the regatta course in Oberschleißheim for canoe racing .
The association's outstanding canoeists were:
- Anton Prijon , world champion in white water racing in 1958 on the Vézère in France
- Toni Prijon , world champion in canoe slalom 1987 on the Isère in France
- Elisabeth Micheler , Olympic champion in canoe slalom 1992 in La Seu d'Urgell / Spain
- Oliver Fix , Olympic champion in canoe slalom 1996 in Atlanta
- Susanne Hirt , overall world cup winner in canoe slalom 1999
- Alexander Grimm , Olympic champion in canoe slalom 2008 in Beijing
