Bavarian Economic Archives
The Bavarian Economic Archive ( BWA ) is an archive that, as an institution of the Bavarian Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Munich, has the task of archiving IHK and company holdings from Bavaria as a regional economic archive.
history
In 1986 the IHK Munich and Upper Bavaria set up a regional economic archive. In 1994 the Bavarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry established the Bavarian Economic Archives. The Munich archive served as the basis. In 2002 the BWA founded the Bavarian Economic Archives Working Group, which aims to promote and facilitate the work of economic archivists in Bavaria.
task
According to Article 14 of the Bavarian Archives Act , the IHKs can also hand over their archivable documents to the BWA for permanent storage. In addition, the BWA takes over holdings from companies that cannot be maintained by them themselves or are threatened with destruction. Other documents from the economy (e.g. from associations, bequests, etc.) are also collected by the BWA.
Stocks
Around 200 different stocks with a circumference of over 3800 linear meters. In addition to the documents from the various chambers, the company archives of various Bavarian companies are also housed. This includes the stocks of the following companies:

use
The BWA is a public archive, the holdings of which are accessible to all who can prove a legitimate interest, taking into account the general protection and blocking periods of the Bavarian Archives Act and special agreements with the owners. Normally there is no charge for using the archive.
Others
The Bavarian Economic Archives are located at Orleansstrasse 10-12, in the Haidhausen district , near the Munich East train station ( Ostbahnhof ).
