Beam Suntory is a spirits company based in Deerfield , Illinois , USA . The company is owned by the Japanese beverage manufacturer Suntory . Beam Suntory was born when Suntory bought spirits company Beam Inc. for $ 13.6 billion in April 2014. Analysts estimate the company's sales at around $ 4 billion a year. Beam Suntory is the third largest spirits producer in the world. Beam Suntory is represented in Germany by its subsidiary Beam Deutschland GmbH .

history

Beam Inc. emerged from Fortune Brands ' liquor business in 2011 when that company split up. Even before the merger, Suntory was selling Beam Inc. products in Japan, while Beam was selling various Suntory brands in Singapore and other Asian countries.

Suntory bought Beam Inc. in 2014 for $ 13.6 billion and also assumed approximately 2 billion in debt. Since October 2014, the spirits brands that Suntory already owned, such as Yamazaki whiskey, have also belonged to Beam Suntory.
