Beat-O-Mania

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Beat-O-Mania in Munich was from 1995 to 1998 one of the largest Sixties- garage rock - and beat music festivals in Europe .

The four " Allnighter " festivals were organized by the former Munich record company Fortune Records.

Musical focus

In contrast to comparable events, at which the stars of the 1960s often appear again, the Beat-O-Mania focused on the performances of the current sixties scene bands around the world .

These were mostly bands whose hits at that time, especially in the so-called Independent - charts were to be found. These bands and the associated underground scene ( subculture ) continued to cultivate this musical style since the early 1980s . Only later did music bands like Mando Diao or The Hives achieve another commercial breakthrough with this style of music.

Beat-O-Mania is one of the role models and pioneers of similar events, such as the Purple Weekend in León .

Publications

The recordings of the four concerts were published in parts on two samplers called “Beat-O-Mania at it's best”. The concert of the band “ Los Flechazos ” is published on their live album “Pussycat”. The "Motorpsychos" released a single with two tracks from their appearance on Beat-O-Mania. The Saarbrücken mod band The Apemen , which appeared at Beat-O-Mania in 1995 and 1996, ended their debut album “Phantacity” with Hendrix 's live cover song “Fire” recorded at the event .

In addition, the highlights of Beat-O-Mania 1996 appeared on video.
