history

In 2003 Christian Höck and Markus "Weyssi" Weißenhorn founded Phonoboy, named after a portable single turntable from the 1960s.

The first French-language title C'est ma vie was promptly published in the French Cuts series of the Munich Atomic Café and very quickly began to develop a life of its own. The piece became a club hit and appeared on the CD supplement of the Musikexpress with other well-known French artists. Universal's music publisher became aware of the two and signed them as authors.

When the decision was made to perform the whole thing live, bassist Nina Kränsel and drummer Nicolai Erdmann joined them in 2004. Phonoboy toured Germany and Austria. The debut album Très chic, trashig , released in 2005 on the Redwinetunes label , was nominated for the German Record Critics' Prize. C'est ma vie was broadcast nationally and internationally on the radio and was often used as background music in television programs. Lauro Cress, son of the drumming legend Curt Cress , replaced Erdmann on drums.

In 2008 “Weyssi” left the band and Phonoboy started working on a new album with the three of them. In 2009, Cress, who now lives in Berlin, left the band due to his increasing film activities. At this point he had already recorded the drum tracks for the third album. Nina Kränsel also moved to Berlin. Christian Höck finished producing the album on his own and decided to declare Phonoboy as a project again. This is not a band! appeared in 2010 on the label Smarten-Up . The single Do you know? stayed in the German alternative charts for five weeks. A tour of Germany followed.

In 2011 the download EP Autoroute du Soleil was released , also on Smarten Up. The title track is a collaboration with DJ and musician Ben Mono ( Munk ). A video was also shot for this.
