Beat Dietschy

Beat Rudolf Dietschy (* 1950 in Basel ) (often Beat R. Dietschy for short ) is a Swiss theologian , philosopher , development expert and publicist . Since 2007 he has been managing director (central secretary) of the Swiss development organization Bread for All .

Life

Dietschy studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Basel , Zurich and Tübingen . He received his doctorate in philosophy in 1988 in Basel with a thesis on Ernst Bloch .

Dietschy spent several years as a publicist and advisor to development organizations in Latin America . He held various offices, for example he was the head of the evangelical home in Leuenberg , editor of the Swiss radio DRS and of church magazines. Between 1993 and 2003 he worked at the Office for Ecumenism, Mission and Development Cooperation in St. Gallen , after which he became head of information and education at “Bread for All” in Bern

In 2007 he was appointed managing director of “Bread for All”. Dietschy was also temporarily president of Alliance Sud , a joint lobbying organization for development organizations.

Beat Dietschy is married to Annette Dietschy nee Scheiterle.
