Beata Choma is a Polish balloonist . In 2017 she became FAI European Champion for women in hot air ballooning in Leszno .

Athletic career

At the age of 16 years Choma began gliding the Aero Club of Swidnica (Schweidnitz) , but gave this sport without much success. In 1995 her interest in ballooning was aroused. For ten years she was an observer of international competitions, both on the ground and in the balloon. In 2004 she began her balloon training and received her license as a pilot in 2005. In the following year she won the regional balloon competition in Kępno , in 2009 that of Ełk , plus several podium finishes in those years. She won the 2010 FAI Women's World Cup after finishing second in 2009. However, this does not have the rank of world and European championships.

In 2017, Choma beat Agnė Simonavičiūtė of Lithuania to second place in a thrilling final and became fourth FAI European Women's Champion after finishing fourth in 2015. Her association is the Aeroklub Poznań , she drives a competition balloon in the Polish national colors, which is sponsored by a beer brand, with the registration SP-BEA.

Choma studied at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin and is the mother of two children.
