Beata Barbara Gosiewska (born Jabłońska; born March 6, 1971 in Wysokie Mazowieckie ) is a Polish politician of the Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS), member of the Senate of the Republic of Poland in the eighth electoral term (2011-2014) and member of the European Parliament in the 8th electoral term (since 2014).

In 1996 Beata Gosiewska graduated from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the Warsaw University of Natural Sciences with the title magister inżynier and in 2009 completed postgraduate studies in auditing , financial control and accounting at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics .

Professional background

From 1996 to 2001 Gosiewska worked as deputy manager at the plant wholesaler Tomaszewski in Warsaw. She then worked at Agencja Rynku Rolnego in Warsaw, Poland's state agency for the agricultural market, until 2005 . From 2005 to 2011 she was the deputy head of the programming and reporting department at Agencja Reststrukturyzacji i Modernizacji Rolnictwa in Warsaw, the state agency for restructuring and modernization of agriculture.

Political career

Gosiewska has been a member of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość since 2001. For this she sat for three terms in the district council of Wola , a district of the Polish capital Warsaw, from 2002 to 2011 .

In the parliamentary elections in Poland in 2011 , she applied for a mandate in the newly established constituency No. 82 for the Senate of the Republic of Poland. With 52,972 (37.52%) of the valid votes cast, she prevailed against the incumbent Senator Michał Okła , among others . During the term of office she was a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and the Committee on Budget and Public Finance.

In 2014 she took part in the European elections in constituency No. 10 on the list at number 4 of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość and was able to win one of the seven mandates in the constituency. On May 25, 2014, she resigned her mandate in the Senate of the Republic of Poland and took up her mandate in the European Parliament on July 1, 2014. As a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group , she sits on the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) and on the Delegation for relations with Japan (D-JP).

Private life

Beata Gosiewska was the second wife of Przemysław Gosiewski , who died on April 10, 2010 in the Smolensk plane crash . The marriage has two children.
