Beate Morgenstern

Beate Morgenstern (born April 15, 1946 in Cuxhaven ) is a German writer .

Life

Beate Morgenstern comes from a Pietist family and grew up in Herrnhut / Oberlausitz and Halle (Saale) . She completed her studies in German and arts education at the Humboldt University in East Berlin with the state examination. She then worked as a bookseller and from 1970 to 1978 as a photo editor at the GDR news agency ADN . After an internship in the cultural department of a large Berlin company, she has been a freelance writer since 1978 . She is a writer of novels , short stories and plays.

Beate Morgenstern had been a member of the GDR Writers' Association since 1980 ; Since 1991 she has been a member of the Association of German Writers , now part of ver.di , and from 1991 to 1994 a member of the federal board. Since 1998 she has also been a member of the PEN Center Germany .
