Beatty ( IPA : beɪdɪ) is a small community in northwest Nye County in the US state of Nevada . Beatty had 1154 inhabitants in 2000. It is located on the Amargosa River .

The parish was named after Montillus Beatty, a settler who owned a ranch in the area. From this a stop developed after 1890 for travelers from Las Vegas to Goldfield and finally the small community of Beatty. In 1905 Beatty was connected to the then gold rush town of Rhyolite by a railway line - it no longer exists today - as the place had meanwhile become a supply base for Rhyolite gold mines.

Beatty is the preferred place to stay for test engineers from large German automobile companies who test their vehicle prototypes with so-called " Erlkönigen " in the adjacent Death Valley National Park in continuous load drives.
