Bechtenrot is a part of the municipality Erolzheim in the district of Biberach in Upper Swabia .
description
The Haufenweiler lies in the right valley of the Upper Rot on an alluvial cone on the state road 299, which connects Erolzheim with Edenbachen and where it joins the federal road 312 . Presumably an early or high medieval settler named " Bechto " founded the place. A grinding and oil mill in Bechtenrot was mentioned as early as 1300 and closed in 1984. From 1312 to 1494, Bechtenrot was part of the monastery area of the imperial abbey of Ochsenhausen before it fell back to the rule of Erolzheim.
The place consists of single houses and agricultural properties, including the outbuildings under a hundred buildings on a total settlement area, the contour of which includes around 8 hectares. The mill's water wheel has been generating electricity again since 1994 .
The Bechtenrot volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help, especially at the local level.
